This project is absolute crap, and this post is going to be uncharacteristically and unprofessionally personal. Consider this a session in art therapy. Also, it's a means of escape from reading about the contemporary craft discourse. I hate the contemporary craft discourse and all of its outdated irrelevant BS.
Anyway, this project is terrible, and here's why-
1. It's a printmaking project. I did half of it with gouache and ink.
2. I sketched it up in literally 10 seconds and went with it.
3. It's 2 weeks late and it still looks like this.
4. I have a very narrow ability to care- printmaking is just outside my range.
5. I have been really, really depressed about my tendinitis.
Which brings us to why I'm even posting this crap project instead of hiding my shame like I normally would. As all 5 or 6 people who read this already know, I injured both of my arms the first week of December by being weak and trying to form things anyway. As a result I have made pretty much nothing in the last 2 months.
I don't not make things, it's just not okay. If you look through the last year of this blog you'll see that when I'm not metalsmithing I'm sewing, or crocheting, or drawing penguins, or baking elaborate cakes, or crocheting things I'll never wear. I do not stop making things.
Anyway, this isn't the cry for help, I did that 2 weeks ago with actual crying and now there are drugs that make me dizzy and less upset and now I'm starting to make things again. I'm kind of upset I won't be doing a perfect 10 posts a month for an entire year again, but I refused to post about cool things on the internet for as much space as I was gone. That's just stupid, everyone else does that anyway.
So that's why I haven't been posting, and why this project is crap, and I will probably post things that either have no explanations or are also crap for a while.
Now here's a close-up of the least terrible rocket. I'll be finally handing them in tomorrow.
At least I can paint some pretty (if unrealistic) fire.
Oh! I completely forgot that I also have some good news- I won the Niche award! Take THAT horrible giant pink chain and the girl from MIAD! Finally, some good taste from the art world. Don't you judge me- this is my blog, I get to gloat on it. Check out the link of authenticity:
