Ispirazione: i Disegni nello Spazio Profondo

Sorry for the shit title, my translation program doesn't know "rendering" and it's impossible to explain to a computer that you want "deep" as in hole, not thoughts, and "space" as in everything besides the planet.

Ispirazione: Metropoli

If you haven't yet seen Fritz Lang's Metropolis, you're in luck, because they're re-mastering the thing with the bits they'd lost and were refound in Argentina.  That means the movie will have more pictures and fewer "this is what you would have seen here if we hadn't lost the film" explanatory slides.

*Note- I don't have any source information for any of my "inspiration" photos.  I yank them from the 'net this way because they're really just for me to look at.  If you have the info, please let me know!

Ispirazione: Moda

This photo is a continual source of inspiration for me.  Everything in it is perfect.

*Note- I don't have any source information for any of my "inspiration" photos.  I yank them from the 'net this way because they're really just for me to look at.  Some of these are from Etsy sellers, and I wish I could help promote their work, but I just can't.  If you have the info, please let me know!

Progettazione Prima che i Computer? Assolutamente No!

I found this video on Make blog this morning, and thought it was fascinating in several ways.  First, the "moden" set of the video; next the interesting processes of making these models; and third the reaction of the guy who posted it on Make in the first place.  Their title is "How To: Design Something Without a Computer".  I thought the title and their accompanying blurb were rather like "can you believe things were designed BEFORE 3D imaging??!?!! It's amazing!"  Which is of course silly.  Anyway, it's an amusing video, worth watching at least the first half.

Scarpa Costruire- Quasi Completa

I meant it when I said I'd make shoes.  Because my new machine is still in need of cleaning/repairs, I'm sewing these entirely by hand.  In a way, I think it's better that way.  I have a lot more control of the form when I can constantly check it while I work.  However, it did take me 3 days to sew what would have taken 10 minutes with a machine.  Oh well, my hand sewing is getting to be awesome.

Leather forms.

Cork inner soles.

Secret stitches!  This lets the blue lining show up as piping.

Not finished but taped together to check for fit/appearance.  I need to get some upholstery staples to sandwich the cork between layers of leather, so until then I can't work any farther.
