Felice Studio Halloween!

100th Post!  Crazy-late back posting brought to you by:  broken computers!  Paypal's idiotic address change page!  The US postal service!  Hurrah!  (my computer's powercord killed itself, and the internet gave misinformation.)

While a lack of computer has caused a lapse in my blogging, it has more than made up for it by forcing me to be in studio, where it's less boring than sitting in a quiet dark apartment by your onesies.  A string of photo-dump posts are to follow, but now- my Halloween in studio!

That's a raising hammer and a large-tipped acetylene torch crossed on that pumpkin.

So, learned 2 things from this.  1- if you don't put a wick in your alcohol lamp, it will have a mini explosion, which can be pretty sweet, but I'm probably lucky to have eyebrows.  2- alcohol lamps are shitty light producers.    LESSONS LEARNED.

Teiera Improbabile e Infusore

I Know these pictures are way crappy, but what can you do at midnight with not light, okay?

Anyway, these are sketches for my project(s) for forming.  I'm going to make a teapot and infuser which are spaceship (read: deep sea creature) inspired.  There's a little art nouveau in there too, of course.  Oh, and some eyeglass frames for myself are in here somewhere too.

Wax for a cast piece which will keep the infuser from falling into the pot when theoretically used.

Top view of the teapot.  No, I don't know how I'm gonna make this either.  In fact, I'm probably more concerned about the improbability of this design than you are.
Instead of the spaceship theme I was going for, I think this looks more like a massively obese alien creature on stilts.
This is another infuser, I swear.

Inspirazione: Soren Bendt

If you know me at all- and lets be honest, if you're reading my blog you're either my friend or one of my parents, so of course you know me- then you know I have a great dislike for digital art.  That being said, this man's work is fucking fantastic.  Seriously.  He's got a blog here on blogspot called SONOBENO and you NEED to check  it out.

Cofano Tempo

Sorry 'bout the horrifying model...  The photo room at studio was disassembled and my "dress form" is sort of... dilapidated.

Piega Formando!

Hurrah!  These were pretty interesting to make, I especially like the large one in front.  I want to start making compound curves to see what happens next.  Hopefully I can incorporate these into my project.  Also, I'm really hoping I can afford to buy a book on fold forming when I get paid next week.  Eating's overrated, right?

Campione Cucchiai

Crazy spoons I made as samples for forming.  They're pretty wonky....

Cofano Modello Misterioso

Been trying to work out the pattern for the bonnet I posted earlier:

I'm having trouble figuring out how this was put together.  I've asked my millinery professor, and what he thinks is different from my guesses here, but he's also said he's not quite sure how it was done.   It'd be helpful of there were other images of it.

Fiori Finti può Essere un po '"Furbo"

Sometimes hat class makes me do silly things...

Forbici!

Mmmhmm!  I'm thinking steel blades (NOT looking forward to cutting that...) with handles of carved dark hardwood and cast silver.   Mmmmmmmm materials.....

Scuse e Cappelli Orrendi

Well as anyone who might happen to read my blog may have noticed, my plan to do 10 posts a month has been shot to hell.  I'm actually rather disappointed in myself, but the reasons it happened are out of my control.  So, I'm going to do some back-posting of images I've been collecting that inspire me.

This post, however, will have some hideous hats I've made in my millinery class thus far.  Enjoy!
